
Apai'pookaiksi After School Program Assistant
CONTRACT POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Apai’pookaiksi Program Facilitator, you will be responsible to work in a team environment in providing support to Indigenous children and families involved in the Apai’pookaiksi After-school program, assisting the children and Facilitator in the classroom with assigned activities and/or outings. You will be responsible for the duties outlined below, as well as other related tasks as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with activities and programming for Indigenous elementary school age 7 to 12 years of age

Assist with the children’s activities and outings (set up and take down of activities and events)

Assist with snack preparation and clean up

Assist on field trips, special events, fieldtrips and community outings

Participate in ongoing training and staff development as outlined by your supervisor

Observe and monitor children’s play and recreational activities

Prepare learning materials and equipment when needed

Interacting in a positive manner, providing guidance and motivation to ensure daily activities and tasks are complete with students

Maintaining an organized and clean classroom, and complete administrative tasks as needed

Ensuring that all rules, policies and guidelines are followed in the classroom
REPORTING LINE: Accountable to the Family Resource Network's Indigenous Hub Coordinator

RATE OF PAY: $19/hour, eligible for Wage Top-up
​
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Required Shifts: Monday-Thursday 3-6pm and Friday1-4pm, throughout September to June

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work both indoors and outdoors
QUALIFICATIONS:​

Certificate or Diploma in Human Services or related experience
-
Alberta Early Childhood Certification, minimal equivalency to “Child Care Assistant” Level 1 (willing to train with qualified applicant)

CPR and First Aid Certification
-
Must submit Child Welfare and Criminal Record check
