Early Intervention Program Facilitator
Position Summary:
Opokaa’sin requires an Early Intervention Program Facilitator to be responsible for guiding children in the Early Intervention programs. The Program Facilitator will build meaningful relationships that will increase positive cultural identity and awareness and to increase social competency, self-confidence and resiliency. The Program Facilitator will provide a safe and engaging environment for the children.
Under the supervision of the Early Intervention Supervisor, the Program Facilitator will provide programming to increase awareness of culture, connection to community involvement, increased social skills and increased academic success/enrichment. The program facilitator will be responsible for providing additional resources and/or referrals for the families you work with, when required, and be responsible to meet the needs of Indigenous children.
Duties and Responsibilities:

To provide lesson plans based on the Circle of Courage model and philosophy.

Supervise, guide and participate with children in daily planned activities

To assist children and families in accessing community activities

To provide other related activities, from time to time
-
To be familiar with and abide by policies set forth by the agency.

Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

To participate in additional training as assigned by the Early Intervention Team Leader

Be sensitive to individual children’s differences and needs, and be willing to adjust planning daily

Provide educational, cultural teachings and/or opportunities, interact with children to encourage their involvement

Consult with Wisdom committee on matters related to delivery of culture and language
-
Provide a warm, safe and caring environment that is kept orderly, clean, and appealing

Be familiar with and abide by policies set forth by the agency and Alberta Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act

Work with other staff members to form positive, supportive team atmosphere by attending team/staff meetings
-
Abide by the Opokaa’sin Early Intervention Society’s Code of Confidentiality

Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible

Reporting Line: The Early Intervention Program Facilitator is directly accountable to the
Early Intervention Team Leader

Rate of Pay: $19.00/hour

Qualifications:
-
Early Childhood Education Certificate/Diploma, Child & Youth Care Diploma and/or Human Resource related certificate/diploma

Child Development Worker- Alberta Childcare Certification
-
Combination of education and classroom experience
-
Ability and experience working with Indigenous children and vulnerable populations
-
Awareness and understanding of Indigenous culture and issues.

CPR & First Aid certification
-
Must submit Child Welfare and Criminal Records check, 3 months current
-
Class 4 Drivers License(preferred)
